A Week until Finals

We are all very busy at the moment so it has been difficult to find time for meeting up with the team. We had to postpone a planned meeting where we had organised to make the video together because we all had so much work to do for another subject. Even so we have still been making progress. Georgie has been really good in making the solid works model or us. Getting that done has assisted in also getting the form model progressing.

Initial Solid works model of our design. Because of the tolerances and limitations of required wall thicknesses for 3d printing it didn't come out exactly how we imagined. We had originally imagined the gaps to be a bit wider to let out more light and allow more colour to be shown. However I quite like the way it turned out in this model. The thin grooves appear quite elegant and sophisticated. The light and colour would be much more subtle which reduce the potential for the device to look tacky or childish. This aesthetic i feel adheres very much o our user groups style and look. It is modern and slick.

This section shows the internal detailing of how the electrical components fit and work together.

The 3d printer making our model.

This form model shows how the design evolved from the very first solid works model. Georgie did a great job with the modelling, I think it very effectivly communicates our design and gives of a fun yet sophisticated impression.

Because Georgie is going away and not able to make the final presentations, she has been putting in a significant amount of time and effort into the project before she leaves. I am very impressed with her commitment to the team. She has been  keeping in contact with us and keeping up to date with our progress while she is away which has been really good of her.
